When I spoke with Kieran's speech therapist earlier this week, she was enthusiastic as ever and so pleased with his progress. She said she thought we pretty much have him caught up to the norm at this point and I would have to agree. I mentioned something about 2-word sentences and she said that they don't expect to see that until closer to 2 years old so we're good there. I told her that he was a very perceptive and receptive kid and that he seems to be just taking it all in and I expect to see a major language explosion right around the corner; she agreed fully with my assessment. :) I decided to write down all his words so I could get a count and this was what I got on the 26th:
"my"
up
no
"boot" which he says to tell us he has a dirty diaper
"bies" = butterflies
"dat" = that
"tat" = cat
"ba" = ball
"bub-o's" = bubbles
"app-o" = apple
"dow" = down
"sssh"
"ott" = outside
"boons" = balloons
"mo" = more (with or without the sign)
"ot" = hot
"buh bye"
"ice" = ice cream
mama/mommy
dada/daddy
Just this past weekend he added "nigh nigh," fish, "dut" (dirt), and "toot" = fruit. So we'll see how he goes this week.
